Building the church

1953-1956

In September, 1953 enough money was raised to buy the church lot for $2000, $700 for an architect and $200 for the sidewalk.

In May 7, 1956 there was a Groundbreaking for the new church building with 100 members and friends, including Mayor Marion Phillips (1st female mayor of Claremont) present.

In regards to the physical labor of building the church, Ray Mark said, “Biebel would get out there with hammer and nails. He didn’t know anything about building, but he’d try anything.” Men and boys from the church worked every weekend, weather permitting, and many weekday evenings.
