As a composite group of believers in Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we believe that the Word of God sets down certain principles by which we should abide in our daily lives. “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2, NKJV)
We therefore affirm that by the grace of God we shall love God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind, and give reverence to Him by our actions, both public and private. “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength; this is the first commandment.” (Mark 12:30, NKJV) In so doing, we will abstain from any worldly habit or action which may be dishonoring to our Savior. “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissentions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21, NKJV)
In worshipping God, we will love one another, exercising a spirit of humility. We will walk together in honesty, knowledge, and holiness. We will work together by the aid of the Holy Spirit to reach unbelievers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will avoid all gossip, backbiting and anger, or any conduct which might cause ourselves or our brothers to stumble. To the contrary, we will live constantly to be an example to others. We will promote a spirit of worship in our homes, encouraging private and family devotions. We will train our children in the way of the Lord.
We will uphold the entire church family in prayer. We will be concerned with the physical and spiritual well-being of our brothers and sisters in Christ and be patient with them; and in the event of disagreement, always follow the rules of our Lord Jesus Christ concerning reconciliation. “Moreover, if your brother sins against you, you go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established’. And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.” (Matthew 18:15-17, NKJV)
In regard to this church, we will continually strive for its advancement. We will pray for its work and support it faithfully with our giving and our presence. We will also hold to its worship ordinances, discipline, and doctrine. Moreover, when we remove from its fellowship, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church which upholds the same Bible principles.
