Dear CBC Family,
It was great to worship together with you on Sunday! We’ve been blessed at CBC with many gifted people and willing hearts who serve each week. Every member using their gifts in the church is essential for the building up of the body! (1 Corinthians 12:4-26). So, thank you for serving Christ here at Calvary. Everyone else benefits because of what you do.

I’ve been reminded this past week of treasuring the Word of God. Proverbs 7:1 My son, keep my words And treasure my commandments within you. 2 Keep my commandments and live, And my teaching as the apple of your eye. The wisdom of God’s Word is a greater treasure for life than having wealth. Prov. 3:13-15 13 How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding. 14 For her profit is better than the profit of silver And her gain better than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than jewels; And nothing you desire compares with her. Opening our Bibles, should be like expecting to find hidden treasure. David approached the Word this way, he prays, Ps. 119:18 18 Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law. There is a wealth of wisdom in the Bible, and there is wonder to behold there too! Join with me this week in opening our Bibles with anticipation to see something new and wonderful. .
Perhaps it has been a while since you’ve been engaged with God’s Word this way. The best thing to do is just start. Consider starting in a Gospel and watch the wonder of Jesus’ life unfold. Hear His voice in what He says. See His heart in how he interacts and relates to people. Pray, “Lord, I’m seeking you. Speak to me, for your servant is listening” (1 Sam. 3:10). And when you find a promise to cling to, hear a convicting word, see something new, glimpse the glory of Christ – then thank Him and respond in praise! Ps. 119:175-176 175 Let my soul live that it may praise You, And let Your ordinances help me. 176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, For I do not forget Your commandments.
God always responds to those who seek His face in the pages of His Word. Jas. 4:8 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Seek for that treasure – and let someone know what you found!
Thanks! See you Sunday…
Pastor Dave
